"Diary of Discovery" by Vladimir Kush
AUTHOR - ILLUSTRATOR - PUBLISHER - INFLUENCER
Course description:
This is a project based learning course in planning, writing, illustrating, editing and publishing an original book to make a social impact in our world! YOU WILL MAKE AN ILLUSTRATED CHILDREN’S BOOK that will be published and presented to students in readings, and will become a part of the collection at the ICS School Library and online on your website!! You may also choose to offer this book for sale on demand to the world! This course covers use of digital art software, traditional art materials, on demand publishing, and creative storytelling through writing and illustration. This is a semester long course that will be demanding and rewarding!
DRIVING QUESTION:
How can we create meaningful illustrated children's books that will improve the health and quality of life in our school community, nation and world?
LEARNING OBJECTIVES:
Students will demonstrate 21st Century skills as they plan, write, illustrate, publish and present original illustrated storybooks that will have a positive impact on the health and quality of life for the community!
EVALUATION:
You will be lead through a series of analysing illustrated books and plots, planning your own plots, characters, and illustrations, revising and producing original stories and illustrations, as well as presenting your works to an audience. There will be rubrics for each project and standard throughout the semester course! I t's going to be awesome!

VA:Cn10.1.Ia: Document the process of developing ideas from early stages to fully elaborated ideas.
VA:Pr5.1.Ia: Analyze and evaluate the reasons and ways an exhibition is presented.
VA:Pr6.1.IIIa: Curate a collection of objects, artifacts, or artwork to impact the viewer’s understanding of social, cultural, and/or political experiences
VA:Cr1.1.IIIa: Visualize and hypothesize to generate plans for ideas and directions for creating art and design that can affect social change.
VA:Cr3.1.IIa: Engage in constructive critique with peers, then reflect on, re-engage, revise, and refine works of art and design in response to personal artistic vision
